Productivity is all about how you focus on your work and make the best out of it. So one of the best lessons, I learn as a developer is to work smarter, not harder. The best way to do that is to use some tools that increase your productivity and help you to improve your daily life. Today I talk about my top 10 tools that I daily use whether it’s about quality coding, project management or find inspiration. So further ado let’s get started –
1. Visual Studio Code
As a programmer, the first and most important tool you must need is a code editor. This is your playground and most of the time you engage here. Visual Studio Code is one of the most popular code editors among developers. What can I say about this cause this is the best code editor I have ever used. It is soo clean and responsive also provides a variety of extension and code snippet that helps you with reducing the repetitive work. It also provides colorful themes and live previews which I really loved.
2. Git / Github
In simple words, Git is a version control system that basically helps developers’ teams to communicate with each other and manage all the changes that have been done in the source code. Github is like a Facebook for developers. Here you can upload your projects and share them with your team. Github has a feature called the GitHub page, where you can host any of your projects easily.
Notion is the all-in-one workspace for notes, project management, task, and database. Here you can make an interactive to-do list, important notes for your project, and organize your classes. Notion also provides beautiful templates for creating notes about design, education, sales, marketing, and many more.
Figma is a popular design and prototype software. It’s a UI and UX design application where you can design websites, applications and it’s totally free. I used Figma to design websites and create some interactive components. It is so easy to learn and has so many features as you can easily test your design with a prototype. Here you can share your design files, projects, and pages with your team and also communicate with them.
5. Stack Overflow
Stack Overflow is like a Q&A application for developers. Here you get all the answers about programming and web development. As of March 2021, stack overflow has over 14 million registered users. It is a large community of developers where you can share your thought and help each other.
6. Terminal / Command Line
Terminal is one of the most effective and important tools for developers. When you have a large collection of projects on your computer, it might a time-consuming process to find and access projects. The only solution for reducing the process is Terminal. You can easily create, copy, remove, delete folders and files with just a simple text command. In the beginning, it might be difficult for you to remember all the commands, but believe me, if you consistently learning the commands then it gives a huge effect on your daily life.
